Just Bete It for Blake - Diabetes Walk
Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008My good friend’s, Tim and Shannon, recently found out that their six year old son, Blake, had Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes. In order to try to find a cure, family and friends have decided to try to help out by walking in JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes this Sunday. Please watch the video below and please support me in my effort to raise as much money as possible for the walk.
Montreal trip
Monday, April 7th, 2008My brothers have been bugging me for awhile, saying that I needed to go see what Montreal had to offer. So now that my brother, Ryan, is getting married, we decided to take a quick weekend jaunt up there.
They weren’t lying, Montreal is a very nice city. The traffic was almost non-existent, the people were cool (for the most part), and the food was delicious. The city seemed very safe. Girls were walking around by themselves early in the morning, and I didn’t feel the least bit worried for them.
The food was perhaps one of the best things in the city. I had to try poutine, since Mike Stickel raved about it. I thought it looked extremely gross in pictures and did not seem at all appetizing. We asked the hotel man where the best poutine was in the city and he directed us to a little place, so we took our empty stomachs not knowing to expect. I was weary of the “curd” because I had no clue as to what it would taste like, but all worries were relieved after the first bite. The gravy was absurdly tasty and the curd didn’t have a strong taste. It had a great texture, though, which was pretty close to mozzarella cheese. Why can’t this be part of the menu of American culture? Man, it’s good, really really good.
Also, the crepes we had on Sunday morning were choice. They were massive, filled with Nutella and topped with fresh strawberries and bananas. They were excellent and filling. Did I mention filling?
We also did a hike up Mount Royal, which was extremely slushy, but, in the end, worth it. The view of the city was excellent, especially since the sun came out and the visibility increased. The slide back down the hill was quite a bit faster.
Overall, it was an excellent trip, and I would love to go again when it was a little warmer. It wasn’t too cold (near the mid-50’s for the day on Saturday), but I’m sure it would be an even lovelier city with some things in bloom.

MealToday 8-6-07
Monday, August 6th, 2007This is my first mealToday, and since the last iPhone winner only posted once I figured I might as well throw my hat in the ring for the next go-round. I don’t think I’ll be doing one everyday but today is a little unique and tomorrow should be even more fun.
Week 51 Weigh-in
Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007Week 51 Weight: 227
Original Weight: 229
When I last posted my weigh-in 7 weeks ago I was at around 230. Since then I got up to 237. For the last couple weeks, I have really been in a butt-kicking mood. When I get in these moods, I usually go pretty hardcore.
So the last 2-3 weeks, I’ve been doing exceptionally well. I have seen progressive gains in weight training and have since begun doing HIIT as was mentioned by Colin’s weigh-in.
Tonight at the gym, tried some SuperSet training and then ran home from the gym. I would estimate this was about a mile and half with a pretty nice hill to top it off. While this is nothing special, this is after a week that has already seen a HIIT training session, a hardcore weight training workout, and 2 hours of basketball.
So, I’ve been trying to increase my calories to increase my muscle development. I am going to try to be extremely active for the summer. I’m excited to see the progress I make over the summer and hopefully I’ll keep it up beyond that, unlike last time when I wasted about 8 months to a year’s worth of training.
N.O. Hornets beat the Eastern All-Stars
Thursday, April 12th, 2007Tonight while playing my favorite game, NBA 2K7 (the best b-ball sim series), and I thought it might be fun to go a little nutty. I told Load to try to beat me with any team his heart so desired. He chose the Eastern All-Stars.
With the latest updated rosters, the Hornets are by far the worst team in the game. They have a rating for 55 on all counts, which would be defense, offense, and overall. I mean you’d be lucky to beat the Grizzlies shooting lights out.
The Eastern All-tars have a rating of 100 in everything. Long story short, this means they are the best you can be. When you have the likes of Shaq, Lebron, and D-Wayde on the same team you are looking at a trouncing of the highest measure. Then if you get in foul trouble you have Paul Pierce, Gilbert Arenas, and Joe Johnson on the bench.
This sounds like a “slam dunk” if there ever was one. The first game we played I had the lead the entire game, with Chris Paul going nuts on 3’s. In the end, the Eastern All-Stars went on an insane, might I say a lucky run to win by a measly 2 points. Beyond respectable considering the competition.
Load wanted a rematch to be able to beat them even worse. This time I still had the lead the entire game again. Then all of a sudden they made another insane run where they couldn’t miss anything.
The game went into overtime. In overtime, the lowly Hornets took over. Chris Chandler was dunking on a fat, tired Shaq like he was a rag doll. In the end, I pulled out the game and Chandler was the player of the game.
So, that’s how the N.O. Hornets beat the Eastern All-Stars. It could never happen in real life, but hey, I’ll take what I can get.
