Wake Up Late Challenge: Cutting it close and Updated rules
Thursday, March 29th, 2007This morning I was listening to the Top Gun soundtrack in my head because I was in the freaking Danger Zone. The snooze danger zone that has seemed to be creeping up on me the last couple of days. Even though I’m waking up before my alarm even goes off, I’m still hitting the snooze button. And the last few days, it has become progressively worse until today was too close a call.
I made it to work with plenty of time, however, I didn’t have time to do all the things I would like to do. Read a little bit, and oh yeah, eat.
So to put a little fire to my feet I’m updating my rules for the Wake Up Late Challenge. There was a two part thought process of why I originally gave myself 3 lates. 1.) Because I thought I would at least be once the first week, if not more, and 2.) I wanted to give myself some leeway if I was late because of matters beyond my control.
Now if I’m late once (yes, you read correctly: once) I have to do a really annoying video of myself. However, I do reserve right and will ask your permission if I was late because of something that was blatantly out of my control. Being stuck behind a school bus when I only gave myself five extra minutes does not count as out of my control.
So there you have it. The cards are on the table. The stakes are set, and they are high.
The Wake Up Late Challenge: Week 1
Monday, March 26th, 2007After an entire week of being scared to death of doing an embarrassing video, I have not been late once. As a matter of fact, I haven’t been close to being late. And even more, I have been early by at least ten minutes, sometimes nearly 30, all days except one.
This is a huge deal for me, as anyone who knows me can probably attest. I’ve tried many things in my past and none have worked, especially consistently. Sleeping with one eye open to avoid doing something foolish that will be documented forever has done the trick so far.
Even better, I think I’m actually getting used to getting up early and on the first alarm. Rarely snooze for this guy lately. This morning, I actually woke up before my alarm. This Saturday, I woke up at 6 a.m. no problemo. Yes, on a Saturday.
This may have been more of a blessing than I thought at the outset. However, any one who knows me could also tell you it still may not last long, so keep the embarrassing suggestions going. If I go another week without waking up late, I might have to up the ante a bit.
Cadbury Cream Eggs
Thursday, March 22nd, 2007When I was a kid I used to love Cadbury Cream Eggs. I was always so excited when they came around every year.
Today, I stopped by my local Sheetz for my morning ritual of 24 oz. “Serious Roast” coffee and $1.99 hoagie of varying meats and cheeses. Right next to the coffee center, I noticed a box full of bright, shiny, ready for consumption Cadbury Cream Eggs. “What the heck,” I exclaimed with glee.
As I went outside and got into my car, I took my first bite of the Cadbury Cream Egg, and only one thought went through my head. “These things are absolutely revolting.”
That startling realization brings me to where I’m at now, pondering my youthful likes and dislikes. As kids, did we ever really like the taste of Cadbury Cream Eggs or did we just like the thought of having a chocolate, cream-filled egg being defecated by a cute white bunny? Was all the allure and belief that we were eating something delicious a misconception of our minds generated by the fun factor that is portrayed by TV commercials and in-store displays?
I don’t recall, but one thing is for sure, they are disgusting to me now. Does anyone as an adult find these things to be even remotely edible?
Etch-A-Sketch of the United States
Wednesday, March 21st, 2007Salena a.k.a Tubby posted a picture of an Etch-A-Sketch she did while her sister watched “The Real World.” She must be really lame and hate that show, so she was bored and did this in her “spare time.”
I agree with Colin, I think she needs a straight-jacket or something, considering any sane person can’t even do a straight line on those devices that are about as fun as being at the DMV on Saturday morning or taking a kick in the region from a kangaroo that just had her joey stolen.
5 Random Things Video Post
Monday, March 19th, 2007I have never done a video post before. I’ll probably never do one again if I don’t have to. So get it while it’s up.
If you are on Viddler and I’m not on your friend’s list, hook a playa up. Even if I don’t like posting videos, it’s cool to see what everyone else has to say.
